At the Leadership Science Institute (LSI), we are strong believers in the words of Tom Watson from IBM. Mr. Watson said, “There is no such thing as saturation is education!” Therefore, in addition to our coaching and mentoring services we have developed a number of seminars and courses. They are designed to help you to develop as a strong and effective leader. Our professional educators recognize that people have different learning styles. Based on this knowledge, we have developed our learning modules to suit a wide range of learning approaches. In addition, each of the learning modules is delivered in a variety of ways. Some are delivered via traditional classroom style (see our Course Schedule for availability); some are delivered in one-on-one or small group sessions; some are delivered online for anytime, anywhere learning; and many are delivered using all of these techniques.
These courses are for small business owners, executives and professionals who are in a leadership position. In these positions you must respond to demands from customers; changes in competition; changes in the economy; the results of mergers and acquisitions; increased government regulation; bottom line growth; technology advancements; as well as societal and environmental changes. These learning modules are different from the traditional courses which teach you the mechanics of business operations. The LSI courses are designed to educate you on how to how to be successful in managing the myriad of business challenges. They will educate you on many different elements of business success. They will coach you the types of things that get in the way of your success and how to eliminate, avoid or manage them. The techniques that are taught to you have been proven effective regardless of the economic environment. These learning modules will help you whether you are working in a company, an association or non-profit organization.
Our experiences, at LSI, show us that effective leadership is one of the most significant challenges faced by organizations today. The existence of most business challenges is not new. However, the skills and ability that you need to lead an organization through these challenges is what businesses have stated they are lacking. Most leadership courses provide you with a “fire hose” approach in that they teach you a myriad of techniques in one session. You have probably already experienced the low retention level associated with this teaching method. At LSI, we understand your frustration with this approach. Therefore, we have taken each key aspect of the leadership role and created a separate learning module. Our approach provides you with the ability to learn the skill that you need… when you need it!
We know that the CIO position is a unique and challenging opportunity. However, we also recognize that, as a CIO, you have a tough job… even on a good day. You are required to satisfy the information technology needs of a variety of disparate organizations. These organizations rely on you to assist them in reducing costs, shorten the customer’s value chain, more efficiently interact with suppliers and service providers, and enhance the company’s products and services. As a result, you need to understand and have solutions for virtually every aspect of the business environment. You are required to do this while maintaining tight cost constraints. We know these things because our educators are experienced Chief Information Officers. Actually, we wrote the book on it! Our learning modules are developed based on our founder's book, “Unwrapping the CIO: Demystifying the Chief Information Officer Position”.
If you are new in the CIO position, our CIO Boot Camp seminar is designed to assist you in understanding all aspects of the position. Unlike most CIO courses, our learning module is not about the technology. There are a myriad of venues for that knowledge. The LSI course covers the executive skills necessary for you to become successful as a member of the senior leadership team. In addition, we expose some of the common pitfalls that can bring your CIO career to an abrupt halt and help you to avoid them.
You may already be an experienced CIO. In which case, our CIO Executive Leadership module is for you. It combines many of the skills and techniques taught throughout the W.I.S.D.O.M. Leadership Program©series. However, each topic was modified to address the unique challenges of the CIO position. We highlight and make you aware of as many aspects and dimensions of the CIO role as possible so that you are an effective member of the senior leadership team.
At LSI, we understand that you may not always have the time to travel to a training session regardless of where it is located. We also know that in these economic times the funds may not be available for training, the travel costs associated with the training, or both. Therefore, we are converting all of our courses to be delivered online. As a result, you have the ability to experience anytime, anywhere learning. Like all of our learning modules, these courses are designed to be delivered to you with a technique that suits your learning style. All of our online courses have both an audio and visual component. The transcripts of each course are available to you as a written reproduction of the course. In addition, each participant will become a member of a social community with others who have completed the course. Therefore, you can converse with other members, as well as the instructor, just as though you were in a classroom setting. You experience all of these delivery methods of our high quality courses while enjoying the benefits of the low cost associated with online delivery. That’s right… the best of both worlds!
